WeWantSounds' re-issuing of Makoto Kubota & the Sunset Gang LPs continues with Hawaii Champroo. It was recorded in 1975 in Honololu at the Sound of Hawaii Studios. Working with Haroumi Hosono as the co-producer, Makoto explores Hawaiian and Okinawan sounds. This results in a tropical sound that works well with Kubota's lyrics sung in Japanese.
Fun Fact: The title comes from Chanpurü, a traditional Okinawan stir fry dish.
Hawaii Champroo contains the same high production standards as on the other WeWantSounds Kubota rereleases. This LP was remastered by Makoto Kubota himself. It has the original artwork, an OBI and the original Japanese inserts.
