Makoto Kubota & The Sunset Gang – Dixie Fever LP

This is the 2021 WeWantSounds pressing of Makoto Kuboto & the Sunset Gang's Dixie Fever.  It comes with the original artwork and an OBI.  It was originally recorded in Hawaii in 1976 and co-produced by Haroumi Hosono. 

This LP stands alongside the best of the Japanese rock/genre experimentation LPs, such as Hosono's Paraiso or Tropical Dandy.  While it is primarily Southern tinged music, this LP also delivers a classic smooth jam, Hoshikuzu (Stardust,) that is a City Pop classic. 

This LP in many ways is a musical sleight of hand trick.  It conforms to many musical conventions, yet somehow doesn't fit into any one genre.  It really is a wonderful LP and a great addition to almost any collection.
