Columbia Records Reissue of Miles Davis' 1976 compilation Water Babies on 180G vinyl. The LP is primarily studio recordings from 1967 and 1968, including outtakes from Nefertiti. It was released after Davis had announced his post-On The Corner retirement.
These tracks find Davis working in the post-bop and fusion realms. Miles enlists Chick Corea and Herbie Hancock on the keyboards, Dave Holland and Ron Carter on bass, Tony Williams on drums, Wayne Shorter on sax. The Side One of this LP is the post-bop tracks, which run 5:06, 8:26, and 7:59 respectively. Side B finds the quintet stretching out into longer fusion jams that run 18:00 and 13:20 respectively.
