Originally released in 1977, Sachiko Nishida's Usual Afternoon has been rediscovered by many as part of the City Pop boom. Universal Music Japan/Lawson Entertainment delivers this 2021 pressing, to make it available to all of us that weren't in 1977 Tokyo for the original party.
The sound isn't as funky as other Cromulent City Pop classics, but it delivers a wonderful jazz/pop/soul sound that is masterfully created together by a LOT of talented musicians. It is produced by Tadataka Watanabe, Kyohei Tsutsumi, Tetsuji Hayashi, Mayumi Olympics, Kazuhiko Kato and other writers. The musicians/singers include Tsugutoshi Goto, Ray Ohara, Tatsuo Hayashi, Kiyoshi Sugimoto, Masayoshi Takanaka and more.
While not as well known as some other titles we stock, it is a wonderful addition to your collection and a great mellow LP for relaxing times.
