Discover the world of Japanese fusion from the '70s to '80s—music that should be passed on to the next generation.
Following the success of his book “You’ll Understand the Basics of City Pop with These 100 Records!” (published by Seikaisha Shinsho), which has gone through multiple reprints, music writer Hitoshi Kurimoto, known for his appearances on TV and radio, presents a carefully curated compilation series: “CROSSOVER CITY” (Victor Edition) on vinyl.
Focusing on tracks released between the late 1970s and 1980s, the selection spans from major artists beloved by music fans—such as Terumasa Hino and Sadao Watanabe—to hidden gems. Rather than sticking to well-known hits or signature songs, Kurimoto selects tracks that feel fresh and relevant today, appealing to city pop fans and collectors of Japanese grooves.
The album jacket features original artwork by Stereotennis, known for their popular 80s-inspired graphic design.
Curated, supervised, and annotated by Hitoshi Kurimoto.
